Students from across Illinois have participated in the Lights for Learning™ 'Do Your Part' poster contest, held this year in conjunction with the Change the World, Start with ENERGY STAR® campaign.Students were given the task of creating a poster encouraging people to 'Do your part' in the fight against global warming while also promoting the Lights for Learning Program and the ENERGY STAR message.
Participants included students from St. Phillip the Apostle in Addison, Robert A. Black Magnet School in Chicago, Cardinal Joseph Bernardin in Orland Hills, St. Mary's School in Metamora, and Woodland Middle School in Gurnee.
First place: Elise Bowler, an 8th grade student at Cardinal Joseph Bernardin Catholic School in Orland Hills. Elise's poster will be featured as the Lights for Learning promotional poster for the 2010-2011 school year. View the Poster
Second place: Molly Sluga, a grade 7 student at St. Mary's School in Metamora. View the Poster
Both winners received AmEx gift cards, and poster submissions will be distributed to local park districts and forest preserves throughout the state for display as well as on the Lights for Learning website.
